KENNETH G. GROSS, M.D.

Dr. Gross is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, the American Board of Laser Surgery, and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Gross attended Rutgers University and then Downstate Medial Center (S.U.N.Y), graduating in 1968. He completed his internship at Los Angeles County General Hospital. Following his dermatology training at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, Dr. Gross stayed on the teaching staff for an additional six years. At the time Dr. Gross left the Navy, he was head of dermatology training and director of the Regional Comprehensive Melanoma Clinic. Dr. Gross was a Navy flight surgeon as well as a Navy diver. He retired as a Navy Captain.

Dr. Gross was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology in 1977. He is presently Clinical Professor of Medicine (Division of Dermatology) at the School of Medicine, University of California, San Diego (non-salaried). He is dermatology-surgery (Mohs Surgery) attending at the Veterans Administration Hospital in La Jolla. He was co-founder of the Metro League of the American Cancer Society and founder of the San Diego Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Gross is on staff at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Mercy Hospital.

Dr. Gross is co-author of a textbook on Mohs surgery: Fundamentals and Techniques of Mohs Surgery by Mosby Publishers, 1999 in its second printing.

Dr. Gross's second textbook : "Mohs Surgery--Beyond the Fundamentals" by Cambridge University Press, is expected to be available the first quarter of 2009.

Dr. Gross is a physician who is a Board Certified Specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of benign, pre-malignant, and malignant tumors of skin, hair, and nail.

Dr. Gross has special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer, melanoma, and other types of skin growths. Dr. Gross provides expert surgical treatment, when required, using a wide range of surgical techniques.

Dr. Gross speaks at many local, regional, and national conferences. His special areas of expertise are: dermatologic surgery, Mohs surgery, the diagnosis and treatment skin cancer (basal, squamous, and melanoma), pre-cancers and non-cancerous skin growths, pigmented skin growths (including dysplastic and congenital nevi and melanoma). Dr. Gross was selected as one of San Diego Magazine's Top Doctor for four years.
